DIY installation
Step-by-step guide to installation
What you’ll need
Tape measure
Pencil
Level (a laser or bubble level works)
Utility knife or scissors (for trimming panels if needed)
High-tack construction adhesive (ex: Liquid Nails, Loctite, or panel adhesive)
Caulk gun (if using tube adhesive)
Clean cloth
Optional: J-roller (to press panels flat)
Step 1 – Prep the wall
Make sure the wall is clean, smooth, and dry. Wipe off dust or grease.
If the wall has big holes or bumps, patch or sand them down first.
Mark light level/guide lines with a pencil where your first row of panels will go.
Step 2 – Plan your layout
Lay out a few panels on the floor to see how they’ll fit.
Decide if you want them vertical or horizontal.
Start in the middle of the wall or from one corner — whichever looks best in your space.
Step 3 – Apply adhesive
Flip a panel over.
Run a zig-zag bead of adhesive across the back (don’t overdo it — a squiggly “S” pattern works).
If using spray adhesive, spray the back of the panel and the wall area lightly.
Step 4 – Place the panel
Line up the panel with your pencil guideline.
Press the panel firmly against the wall.
Smooth it from the middle outward with your hands or a roller to remove bubbles.
Step 5 – Repeat & adjust
Add the next panel right up against the first.
Keep checking with your level to make sure panels stay straight.
Trim panels to fit edges, outlets, or corners with a utility knife or scissors.
Step 6 – Finish up
Wipe off any extra adhesive that squeezes out before it dries.
Let adhesive cure (usually 24 hours).
Step back and enjoy your new sound-dampening wall!
⚠️ Tips & notes:
Panels can be removed later, but adhesive may damage paint.
For a rental-friendly option, use heavy-duty double-sided tape or removable mounting strips (but sound performance may be reduced).
If your room is humid (like a bathroom), use an adhesive rated for moisture.
